Why hemp/wool?
Why hemp/wool?
Dinosaur Green loves things that are natural, raw, and minimally processed.
Hemp is an extremely durable, natural fiber that is also breathable, biodegradable, and mold and mildew resistant. Hemp fabric softens with each washing while maintaining its integrity. Hemp fibers absorb and release moisture quickly, helping to keep skin dry. Hemp production is also good for regenerating and enriching the soil, while not requiring pesticides/herbicides.
Spun together with wool for warmth, softness, and enhanced moisture control result in a delightful, matchless feel.
Highly processed, man-made plastic fibers such as acrylic and polyester, even if recycled, are disastrous for the environment. Microplastics are increasingly found in higher and higher concentrations in everything from the oceans to rain water. These microscopic pieces of plastic are leeched from plastic fibers in large quantities when they are thrown in the wash. These things end up in our food supply. We should aim to minimize the use of these materials.
Over time, low airflow causes you to sweat more, resulting in a muggy, moist, uncomfortable feeling. The complexities of natural fibers are impossible to replicate in plastic.
Wool fabric care
Wool fabric care
Wool takes care of you if you take care of it.
- Machine wash cool, gentle with like colors.
- Laying flat to dry is the best way to maintain integrity of wool fibers and prevent shrinkage.
- Do not use spot laundry cleaners, bleach or other chemical and enzyme cleaners like oxi-clean.
- Take care not to wash with garments with zippers or velcro or towels with texture as this will cause abrasion and pilling.
